MICHAEL BRIGGS SALON : EARLVILLE
With more than 18 years experience, nine with The Hair Studio, Michael loves making people look and feel wonderful every day. Before The Hair Studio, Michael spent several years with L'oreal as a colour technical advisor: he also specialises in chemical permanent straightening and hair extensions. Although he loves all facets of hairdressing, Michael particularly enjoys working with clients over many years and watching their styles and colours evolve. When not working, Michael can be found spending time with his children or indulging in motocross and road bike racing.
APRIL-SKYE HAYNES SALON : EARLVILLE
April-Skye has been with The Hair Studio team for three years and looks after all of the clients at our Earlville salon, from the moment they walk in the door until the second they leave us for the day. Dedicated to providing a quality experience for all The Hair Studio clientele; April-Skye enjoys being able to create different styles and find the right style for each person. April-Skye has undertaken training with Tigi and Redken and when not at the salon, she is passionate about exercise, dancing and music.
ELLIE LAVIS SALON : EARLVILLE
Ellie has been with The Hair Studio for just over two years and in this time, she has proven herself to be a valuable member of the team. Ellie is currently completeing her apprenticeship with The Hair Studio and loves her work because she has the ablility to care for her clients and create a look that ensures her clients feel and look great when they leave the salon. When not at The Hair Studio, Ellie enjoys shopping, going out and spending time with her friends.
HOPE MAREE KENNEDY SALON : LAKE ST
Hope has completed her apprenticeship with The Hair Studio and is now a popular stylist for the young generation. Hope enjoys highlighting blondes, and men’s cutting and styling, she loves working with clients, trying new colours and styles. She cares about her clients' style and creates individual looks for each one. When she is not at the salon, she enjoys socialising with friends, shopping, spending time at the beach and having the occasional game of laser tag.
YER KUE SALON : EARLVILLE
Yer Kue loves hairdressing because: "I can be creative and I get a thrill when I make clients happy". Yer has over three years experience and offers clients that special style, to suit the individual. Yer enjoys cutting and colouring and is a previous GHD Retail Sales Award winner. When not at The Hair Studio, Yer enjoys shopping, watching movies and spending time with her family
VERONICA MEAD SALON : GRAFTON STREET
Veronica has been with The Hair Studio for nearly five years, she loves her job because: “it allows me to express my creativity and it’s not just a trade but a hobby”. A ribbon-winner in the 2007 Fashion Bash Hair Competition, Veronica has undertaken several training courses and seminars with Redken, GHD and Tigi. Specialising in creative colouring and blow drying, Veronica loves to go to the beach and wakeboarding in her spare time. Veronica also helped backstage at the Hair Expo with Rodney Cutler.
LISA PEISKER SALON : EARLVILLE
Funky cutting, foils and colour corrections are just some of Lisa’s hairdressing strengths, she also: “enjoys making customers feel great about themselves when walking out of the salon”. Having spent time at Bentley’s of Canberra, Lisa has been with The Hair Studio for approximately 18 months and said: “I love all aspects of hairdressing, especially the cutting and colour outlooks”. Lisa has undertaken several training courses covering topics such as colours, cutting, design and the salon’s GHD expert, which included international trends and fashion forecasts.
EVON WEBB SALON : LAKE ST
With over 13 years experience, Evon is one of the most experienced nail technicians in Cairns, so there is little wonder that she has a large and loyal clientele. As well as giving free advice on all nail problems, Evon can assist you with acrylic and gel nails, nail art, manicures and pedicures: she also does waxing, from eyebrows to brazilians.
HAILEY WOODLAND SALON : GRAFTON ST
Hailey Woodland has joined our team after working in the Gold Coast. She is passionate about looking after her clients image.
Hailey loves to help people change their image from long to short and their colours across the whole spectrum. Hailey believes that the difference between a good hairdresser and a great one is the care factor and the ability to listen and interpret an individuals needs.
Hailey is looking forward to meeting Cairns locals in our Grafton St salon who are looking for a new hairdresser.

Cairns Business Woman of the Year for 2008/09 and a Master Hairdresser with more than 40 years experience, Cally has worked and trained all over the world. Her caring nature is extended equally towards her team of dedicated stylists and highly valued clients, a factor that has seen her business flourish and grow over the last 35 years. With extensive international experience, including time in London and Las Vegas, Cally is recognised as one of Far North Queensland’s styling champions: in her spare time, she enjoys sharing time with friends, travelling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
ESTEBAN PATRON MARTINEZ
GRAFTON ST CO-MANAGER
Hailing from Spain, Esteban has been with The Hair Studio for 10 years. Specialising in colours, razor cuts, (ghd) and creative up-styling, Esteban thinks hairdressing is an art. “The most important part of what we do is the creation — to make people happy about themselves and how they look.” Prior to The Hair Studio, Esteban worked in Adelaide and owned his own salon in Spain. As well as managing the salon at 82a Lake Street, Esteban enjoys canoeing, painting, art and socialising with friends.
LISA WALMSLEY
GRAFTON ST CO-MANAGER
Lisa is from the UK, trained in London with Mayfair Academy, Toni & Guy, Loreal and Wella, and has more than 20 years experience. Living in Australia for the last 10 years, Lisa spent some time at Edward Beale's Melbourne Central Salon and has lived in Cairns for the last nine years. Lisa specialises in precision cutting, creative colour, blow drying, foiling and razor cutting. What Lisa loves most about what she does is “making the client look and feel good about themselves - it's all about them”. Lisa has a large English clientele and when she is not at The Hair Studio, she likes socialising with friends and chilling out.
KARLA WESPE
EARLVILLE MANAGER
Manager of the Earlville salon, Karla specialises in beautiful, artistic colour work; she listens to her clients and enjoys interacting with them. Karla lists her hairdressing strengths as being creative with colour, cutting, straightening long hair, blow waves, up-styles and make-up. As well as having attended courses through Tigi, Redken, Matrix and Wella, Karla has participated in an Advanced Colour Correction Techniques seminar and came 3rd in the North Queensland Hairdressing Awards. With a strong base of loyal clients, Karla is dedicated to her work and being a fit, healthy and happy person.
BERNADETTE BENEDICTOS
LAKE ST MANAGER
Bernadette has worked in both Canberra and Melbourne the fashion capital of Australia. Bernadette has participated in runway fashion shoots, competitions and fashion shows. Her family lives in Cairns and she has decided to settle here. She loves to help people find their individual style from classical work to modern styling. Bernadette enjoys socializing and is looking forward to meeting new clients who are looking for a hairdresser that is here to stay!
